The Surrogate Mother by Freida McFadden

Synopsis:

Abby wants a baby more than anything.

But after years of failed infertility treatments and adoptions that have fallen through, it seems like motherhood is not in her future. That is, until her personal assistant Monica makes a generous offer that will make all of Abby’s dreams come true.

But it turns out Monica isn’t who she says she is. The woman now carrying Abby’s child has an unspeakable secret.

And she will stop at nothing to get what she wants.

You would have to have your head buried in the sand if you didn’t already know I love Freida McFadden books. This book, however, was not one of my favorites. I did like it; however, if you have never read any of her books, I would not start with this one. I know some who loved this one more than the others; however, Do Not Disturb is still my favorite (along with The Inmate).

This was the first book where I actually correctly predicted one of the main twists! That, in itself, should earn me a “Freida badge” – you know, like a Girl Scout badge! Out of all her books I have read, I have never even gotten close to figuring out the twist. “Freida Readahs” know how hard that is. I would love to tell you what I figured out and when but I would clearly give away the book. Also, there is a movie I kept thinking this book was like, only for it to be referenced to later. But…I can’t mention that either.

This book does deal with infertility and the adoption process. If you are currently struggling with infertility, it may be too much to read right now. Also, not to give away spoilers but if you have struggled with failed adoptions, you may be emotionally triggered. Some will be able to read and not be affected but do take note in case you may be currently struggling with infertility or adoption process.

Happy Reading!
